Alix Allison focuses her practice on oil and gas litigation, representing clients in trespass-to-try-title, breach of contract, royalty underpayment, and surface disputes. She has brought and defended cases before both state and federal courts and also has experience in employment and complex commercial disputes. Alix represents clients in all aspects of trial and appellate litigation. Her thoughtful and strategic approach provides value to clients facing complex matters.
- Second-chair counsel in a Midland County, TX, lease termination jury trial representing a Fort Worth-based oil and gas company against a Fortune 500 drilling company. Secured a unanimous finding that the lease terminated for failure to produce in profitable quantities and also terminated based on a total cessation of production without timely qualifying operations.
- Second chair in a retrial. Obtained a reversal of the original trial verdict where the jury found the lease terminated for failure to turn a profit and secured a remand for a new trial, resulting in a defense verdict where the jury unanimously determined that the lease produced in paying quantities. BP America v. Laddex, 513 S.W.3d 476 (Tex.).
- Assisted in obtaining a highly favorable settlement on the eve of trial representing a large oil company in an $85 million contract dispute in Denver.
- Obtained summary judgment for the primary defendant, a Fort Worth–based oil and gas company, in a lease termination dispute involving 4,000 gross mineral acres in Loving County, TX.
- Represented clients in both prosecuting and defending lease termination disputes, including litigation involving production in paying quantities, retained acreage, and total cessation issues.
- Represented clients in royalty payment disputes.
- Secured summary judgment in an employment discrimination dispute under the ADA, Title VII, ADEA, and TCHRA, which was later affirmed by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
- Secured summary judgment in a purported whistleblower dispute under the National Defense Authorization Act.
- Secured summary judgment in a retaliation and discrimination employment dispute before an administrative body.
- Defended a large private employer in several administrative proceedings before the Texas Workforce Commission.
- Represented employers in internal investigations related to potential violations of state and federal laws.
- Represented an international oil and gas company in a suit against multiple state attorneys general.
- Represented several Fort Worth–based hospitals in health care litigation matters.
