Senior Associate

Lad’s practice primarily consists of complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on oil and gas, real estate, and business disputes. While representing corporate clients ranging from burgeoning start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, Lad takes pride in finding practical and creative solutions customized to the individual client’s objectives. He is also a dogged advocate, securing early dismissals of frivolous claims, disposing of claims at summary-judgment proceedings, and successfully prosecuting and defending claims at trial.

  • Represented oil and gas company in royalty dispute and prevailed on summary judgment to dispose of royalty owners’ claims.
  • Secured summary judgment for oil and gas company on breach-of-contract claim asserted by putative overriding royalty interest owners.
  • Prevailed at trial when representing property management company first chair in breach-of-contract dispute, recovering damages and attorneys’ fees for client.
  • Defended oil and gas company in $100 million dispute against claims for failure to fully develop, royalty underpayments, and improper deductions of post-production costs and secured highly favorable settlement on the eve of trial.
  • Represented commercial real estate company in a breach-of-contract dispute and prevailed on summary judgment to recover damages and attorneys’ fees.
  • Defended oil and gas company against $60 million claim for alleged breaches of water-requirements contract and secured favorable settlement for client during beginning stages of litigation.
  • Represented oil and gas company in vendor dispute and prevailed on summary judgment to dispose of plaintiff’s claims.
  • Represented small business owner in trade-secret dispute and secured favorable settlement on the eve of trial.
  • Represented a non-profit company to secure a judgment terminating an easement across one of its properties.
