Firm Retained for Three Significant Corporate Restructurings

Vartabedian Hester & Haynes has recently been selected to represent the interests of unsecured creditors following the bankruptcy filings of three corporations.

The cases are:

  • The subprime auto lender PrimaLend Capital Partners, LP, and two affiliates, filed voluntary petitions for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection citing industry challenges, including rising consumer auto loan defaults and high interest rates. The bankruptcy is being administered in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
  • Omnicare, a subsidiary of CVS Health, filed for Chapter 11 to address a $1 billion judgment from a False Claims Act lawsuit. The bankruptcy is being administered in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
  • Anthology, the education technology company that owns Blackboard, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. The filing is a strategic maneuver to restructure the company, eliminate more than $1 billion in debt, and focus on its core business.

Attorneys involved in representing the unsecured creditors committees in these cases include Jeff Prostok, Deirdre Brown, Candice Carson, Martin Sosland, and Mary Taylor Stanberry.
